Passion for Holistic Health and Well-Being

The WHO constitution states: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” An important implication of this definition is that mental health is more than mere absence of mental disorders or disabilities.”
Candlestick Massage Therapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy started as Candlestick Massage Therapy in 2016 by Mamta Bhatt.
The journey of Mamta Bhatt as a health professional started a long time ago when she graduated as a doctor of Homeopathic medicine in 1991 in Mumbai, India. She started working as a doctor in a small clinic, supported by an NGO, in Mumbai (India) slums which fought for the housing rights of the slum dwellers. Mamta understood the importance of fighting for social justice and the human rights of slum dwellers as a vital component of their overall health and well-being. Later Mamta worked in rural, urban and ethnically diverse communities and realized that values of respect, inclusion, unconditional positive regard, compassion, empathy and empowerment led to improved health outcomes. In 2003, Mamta completed her training in counselling psychology from India and acquired the tools to emotionally engage with her patients. In 2010, to add depth to her work, Mamta acquired a diploma in Yoga therapy from a reputed institution in Mumbai, India. Helping the patients with mind-body medicine of homeopathy, along with counselling and yoga and mindfulness philosophy led to steady improvement in the mental and physical health of her patients. As a Canadian immigrant, Mamta acquired a diploma in Registered Massage Therapy in 2016 and started the business of registered massage therapy which helped her clients relax and overcome stress, anxiety, and chronic pain syndromes. Prashant Bhatt joined in 2019 as a fellow RMT and has contributed to the work by adding the expertise of deep tissue massage and sports massage. Mamta acquired a master’s in counselling psychology (MACP) degree from Yorkville University and got affiliated with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) in Jan 2023. Mamta Bhatt was fortunate to complete her clinical internship at Touchstone Health Clinic, located in Washington, USA. Here she honed her counselling skills by working with a multitude of problems like anxiety, depression, addiction, body-image issues, addictions, PTSD, suicidality, ADHD, childhood trauma, abuse, relationship conflicts and so on.
With the expansion of Candlestick Massage Therapy into Candlestick Massage Therapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Mamta Bhatt hopes to contribute to promoting the mental and physical well-being of the community around her. She also hopes to bring the richness of Eastern spiritual practices of yoga and mindfulness as well at the Candlestick to realize her dream of harmony, inclusion, peace, justice, holistic health and well-being of all!
